The institute has been a central part of village life for over a hundred years, providing an essential backdrop for peoples changing lives. ABOUT US

Our Public Institute first opened its doors in 1905. The ceremony was presided over by the 7th Duke of Richmond and Gordon with the Royal Highlanders (the Black Watch) providing the music. The Fochabers Public Institute also achieved another first in the form of ‘New Light’. To find out more click the button below.

OUR MAIN HALL AND CHRISTIE ROOM

We have a wide range of options for hiring our facilities. There is the main hall which has a stage and a bar area for larger events. The Christie Room is ideal for smaller occasions. We also have the excellent Gordon & Ena Baxter Kitchen and two different meeting rooms. Find out about booking your rooms here.

OUR GORDON AND ENA BAXTER KITCHEN

Our kitchen provides cooking facilities with a heated gantry, dish washer, freezer and refrigerator. Everything is well laid out for you to be able to cater for your occasion.

OUR BAR

Our bar forms part of our main hall and is open for many of our organised events. It is available for hire providing the appropriate licensing has taken place. We don’t allow bring a bottle type events and so if your considering hiring our bar early contact with ourselves is advised.

MEN'S SHED

Connection, conversation and creation – that’s what joining a Men’s Shed is all about. Men’s Sheds encourage people to come together to make, repair and repurpose, supporting projects in their local communities. Improving wellbeing, reducing loneliness and combatting social isolation.
